FINANCIAL ADVISORS CONGRESS 2013

Today, I will talk about personal finance. =)
As I've said in my previous post on mutual funds, I really enjoy attending financial management seminars.
Last October, I attended a Financial Advisors Congress held at RCBC Plaza in Makati.
This is one of the big events that I got acquainted with this year and here's my little sharing. I will tell you about one of the topics discussed which I think is helpful in our personal lives- financial management!
The segment was entitled TOTAL FINANCIAL STRATEGY FOR TOTAL PEACE OF MIND. It was conducted by a Registered Financial Planner and the man behind the Wealth Academy Program, Mr. Noel Arandilla.

During the talk, the speaker discussed about the realities of our fast changing world.
People spend faster today... Technology advances rapidly... The outdoor games that kids used to play are now replaced with gadgets...
Before, a parent could raise ten children. Today, the ten children could not raise a parent.
Before, a father working could raise ten children. But today, a couple both working could hardly raise two kids.
Commodities get more and more expensive. How should we deal about this? There is a need for us to manage our finances well, have the discipline of saving and invest in the right facility.

The speaker also cited the FOUR FINANCIAL MISTAKES that most of the people commit. Such are the lack of planning, lack of discipline and procrastination, depending on someone else for financial information, and lack of financial knowledge.

If you want to build a SOLID FINANCIAL FOUNDATION, you have to build it right. Building it right means setting priorities in your fund allocation. Yes! There is a right way of establishing one's wealth.
Here's how you create a stable financial foundation:
First, you need to have a HEALTHCARE FUND.
Second is acquire a LIFE INSURANCE.
Third, you should MANAGE YOUR DEBT.
Fourth- CREATE EMERGENCY FUND.
And last, you need to INVEST!

I hope you learned something! =)

BTW, here's what I wore during the conference...

What do you think? =)

DRESSING UP FOR BANGKOK

Few months ago, I went to Bangkok for a convention plus mini-break adventure. A perfect time to escape from Makati's busy life.
Whenever I go out of the country, I always plan out my clothes for the whole trip. I will share with you what I wore during my five days of stay in Thailand's capital city.

On my flight to Bangkok, I wore a cozy casual dress.

Most of the must-see places in Thailand are temples and when it comes to dress codes, they are strict! I guess having this outfit for that day was a good choice. White fitted tee and long skirt pants.

A-line skirt plus long sleeves for the big event. =)

 Comfy dress on shopping day!

Just wore pants and a loose tee on my flight home.

Before I end this post, I'll show you some snapshots of our BKK adventure:

Things to do in Bangkok: ride the tuk-tuk, visit the temples, ride the ferry, go shopping at Chatuchak, and many more!
Exciting trip, isn't it? =)

THE FIRST FEW PIECES

Wanna know how I discovered my passion for accessory-making?

I think it started when I was young. At an early age, I have already loved braiding, stitching doll clothes, creating beaded bracelets and others. I can say I was good in craft-making early on. haha!

But my journey in formally creating accessories started when I accompanied a friend to a shop which apparently sells accessory materials. When I first entered that store, I really got excited! It was like the greatest discovery of my life!=)) Kidding aside, that's where I got the idea of having my own accessories business.
I started buying materials, copied sample pieces, did some trial and error and the rest was history...

I will show you the first few pieces I created for myself. (Not for sale!.. hehe..)

Necklaces...

Bracelets and Earrings!

Beginner here... Please forgive the imperfections. =D

What do you think? =)

WINTER IN TAIPEI

I never knew how cold winter was until my experience in Taiwan. The temperature was very low and we were literally freezing. No snow but extremely cold! Wearing three clothes altogether was not enough and I wasn't prepared for it.

Taipei was a very nice place and a totally different environment. The difficult thing though was that the locals hardly speak English and we had difficult time conversing with them.

And oh, it was Chinese New Year when we went there! They had a week-long celebration and majority of their stores were closed for almost a week. 0_0

Here are random photos of our activities and the places we visited:

Day 1
TAOYUAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Day 2
CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL HALL, TAIPEI BOTANICAL GARDEN, LONGSHAN TEMPLE

Day 3
TAIPEI ZOO, MAOKONG GONDOLA
This zoo is very vast! Took us one day to stroll around the place. Actually, we weren't able to visit all the animals. hehe.. =D

Day 4
NATIONAL PALACE MUSEUM, SHILIN OFFICIAL RESIDENCE, TAIPEI 101

Taipei 101 is one of the tallest buildings in the world. Good thing we found a good spot to take picture with this skyscraper.

Day 5
TAIPEI EXPO PARK, BOSSA NOVA CAFE

I loved my stay in Taipei. Had so much fun! It was a well-spent vacation out of the country! :-P

LEARNING ABOUT MUTUAL FUNDS

One of the things that I love to do is attending financial management seminars. Now I'm sharing with you one of my favorites.. =) Topic: MUTUAL FUNDS!

Here are some of the things that I learned during the mutual fund training..

Importance of investing:
1) to beat inflation
2) to reach your financial goals

Features of a Mutual Fund: diversification, affordability, tax exemption, professional fund management, convenience, liquidity and safety!

Here are the three types of Mutual Funds:
1) Bond Fund (for low risk profile with recommended length of stay of 1 to 2 years)
2) Stock Fund (for aggressive profile, more than 5 years recommended length of stay)
3) Balanced Fund (moderate risk profile with recommended length of stay of 3 to 5 years)

You may choose what type of MF to invest depending on your risk appetite. As for me, I go for the Stock Fund. Just shows how aggressive I am in investing. Yay! =D

During training:

(MF training by Rampver Strategic Advisors)

There are different mutual fund companies in the Philippines. Three of my favorites are FAMI, Philequity and PAMI. These are all good performing. =)

One thing to consider when investing is that you have to give it time to grow. Invest wisely. Invest in the right facility.

"To maximize the potential return of your investment, you need to let it grow over time." -RSA

THE BDJ RENDEZVOUS: FEARS TO FIERCE

My favorite planner just had another rendezvous! It was my first time to attend and I had fun! =) Just felt so girly.. ;)

I went there with my best friend and we met other fierce fashionista girls. Learned about fashion, travel, make-up and health. I was actually late due to rain and traffic. = ( I felt bad but at least I was able to attend more than half of the event. It was hosted by Mellow 94.7 DJ, Tracy Abad.. She was really cool and nice. Some bloggers invited to talk during the event were Prime Sarmiento, Alex Lapa and Erica Paredes.

Some snapshots:

Here are some of the freebies I got from Kolours and Skin White. Yey!

HABAGAT HITS MAKATI

I wonder how storms and monsoons nowadays became very strong. I just feel bad that due to the terrible weather, all of my appointments were cancelled. Sooo sad.. =( I'm not used to staying home the whole day and not being able to do anything. Bad Weather = Bed Weather.. Very unproductive!

I feel sorry for those who were greatly affected by the storm. I hope and pray that everything will go well. I am thankful that even though the place where I live was surrounded by flood, my housemates and I were all safe and able to sleep well in the comfort of our beds.

This is actually my second experience of a dreadful monsoon here in Makati. Habagat 2012 was bad, but I can say that Habagat 2013 was even worse.

Habagat 2012:

Habagat 2013:

On a positive note, I was able to take a lot of rest and eat delicious breakfast. Yey! Here's what I munched for breakfast:

Cookies + Cookie Butter!

And oh, the cozy weather reminds me of my visit to Taipei one winter season.. =)

(feeling sooo cold!)

START OF SOMETHING NEW

So, what happened to me for the past few months? hmmm...

Since my resignation from work last May, my daily routine had become very different. From a tight schedule to a flexible one... From being stressed and serious into being relaxed and fun! I had more time to rest and more time think about what I really wanted to do. I was able to to reflect and be inspired once again.

Well, aside from doing some business ventures, I busied myself with social networking and reading blogs. There! That's how I got interested in creating my own. =D.. My best friend Cherryl, who loves to read blogs was a big influence, too.

So, what's up for me now?

Well, a new chapter is yet to come.. Why not start from blogging, right? =)

I can actually picture myself on a white blank background, waiting to be painted with new colors, very much ready for new adventures! ;-)
